Gwen Paulson is an LCSW, Perinatal Mental Health Counselor, Doula, Advocate, and Mama of one active toddler and one yet to meet in September 2022. As a Social Worker Gwen has been in roles of advocacy for over a decade. She has been a birth worker since 2015 upon completing her Birth Doula training with DONA, and has worked as a Birth Doula exclusively for a local midwifery practice since 2018. However, her passion for supporting parents and families soared to new heights after the home birth of her son in 2019. Gwen is excited for opportunities to engage with families — both those with stories of experiencing midwifery care and those unfamiliar or even skeptical of the spectrum of midwifery.

Gwen believes in the power of the collective and the impact of legislative advocacy for safe, accessible, and uncompromised midwifery care for Virginia families. As a Counselor and Doula who works exclusively with a midwifery practice, she is closely connected with the wisdom, knowledge, and skillset of midwifery. She fully believes and trusts in this model of care when medically appropriate and accessible for families. Gwen lives in Fredericksburg, VA and enjoys nature walks and cooking with family and friends.
